Dive Community Students of the Week
Steve Jolly aka 'George' and Vicky Greenwood
George and Vicky while diving in Phuket and the Similan Islands, Thailand
Friends from CGI in England, George and Vicky decided to both take a sabbatical and travel around South East Asia and Australia for a few months, while doing this they decided to extend their PADI dive education and both become Advanced Open Water Divers They began their training with us in Phuket with their Swedish Instructor Sofia and Divemaster Grim and decided to complete their training in the Similan Islands on a Liveaboard with English Instructor James.
Their training consisted of five adventure dives (deep, navigation, photography, naturalist and drift) and while doing these they experienced the complete range of varied marine life Phuket and the Similans has to offer, they saw the King Cruiser Wreck as well as Koh Doc Mai and a bit of Shark Point (Phuket Divesites) then they travelled to the Similan Islands via Thap Lamu from which they took an hours speedboat ride to the Similan Islands where they met their liveaboard boat which was to be their home for three days. Vicky and George were lucky enough to see a Manta Ray (click on picture above) as well as all the regular reef fish including Batfish, Moray Eels, Lionfish, Triggerfish, Angelfish. Sweetlips, Flying fish, Blue Spotted Stingrays, Surgeonfish and even some Sharks (if George wasn't asleep !) This was a rewarding course to teach and it left George Glowing with Pride at the completion of his Advanced Open Water training and Vicky happy that she has built on the skills she learnt in her Open Water course
Good Luck and Congratulations to you both from all of us at Dive Community, Phuket, Thailand
